Commencement of operations at the Neluwa local council crematorium

The Nelwa local council crematorium, which was built on the provisions of the Provincial
Council and the Ministry of Local Government, started operations today (2024.09.02) with
religious rites as a priority.

With the modernization of the Neluwa area, the residents of the Neluwa area were in need of a
crematorium due to the limited space for burials. Here too, services from Tavalama and Kotapola
crematoriums had to be obtained.
Therefore, the need of a crematorium for the residents of Neluwa area was identified and the
construction of a crematorium was started in the year 2021. Although the construction was
stopped due to the ongoing Corona epidemic, the construction was started again and the
necessary arrangements have been made for the operational activities from today.

Cremation can be booked at 2.00 pm, 4.00 pm and 6.00 pm. It can be done by calling the following
phone numbers or by visiting the local council head office.

The fees charged are as follows.
Rs 10,000.00 for cremation within Neluwa local council area
