On 11.07.2025, while the Environmental Subject Officer of the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha was returning home with his child on a motorcycle after completing his duties, a group of thugs who arrived on a three-wheeler and a motorcycle brutally attacked the officer in front of the 3.5-year-old child.Neluwa, who sustained head injuries in the attack, was admitted to the Medagama Hospital and then sent by ambulance to the Udugama Hospital for further treatment.The reason for the attack was a case filed by the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha regarding the cutting down of a dangerous tree.

In condemnation of this inhuman attack on an official duty, the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha staff were absent from field duty on Monday, 14.07.2025.Meanwhile, a silent protest was held in front of the Neluwa Main Bus Stand at 12 noon that day with the participation of officials from other government institutions.
