Under the four-year project of “Connecting Rivers – Building 800 Rural Bridges that Build Lives”, the construction of the Neluwa Kosmulla Samagi Mawatha Owita Bridge was successfully commenced yesterday (2026.07.14). The project is being implemented by the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha under the supervision of the Department of Local Government, with the provisions of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

Deputy Minister of Fisheries Ratna U. Gamage, Galle District Member of Parliament T. K. Jayasundara, the Chairman, Vice Chairman and members of the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha and many other public representatives participated in this special occasion.

The Southern Local Government Commissioner, the Planning Director of the Local Government Department, officials of the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha and the Neluwa Divisional Secretariat, as well as residents of the surrounding area, also participated in this event.
